Mid Mod Mocha
Featuring Erin Marsh
I tried to tone down my excitement as we were greeted today by a big yellow door and a dinosaur… how did Erin know my weakness for bold colors and Jurassic Park? MidModYoga was so generous to host my daughters and I for an afternoon of playdating and caffeine consumption.
I admired every detail of Erin’s mid-century modern abode while she brewed me up a very special coffee. Her combination of chocolate protein powder and vanilla almond milk had me feeling all sorts of inspired. She even snuck in a splash of Bailey’s, which sealed the deal on our friendship. We sipped and chatted about everything from yoga, writing, and being a mom. Without further ado, Erin Marsh’s coffee feature.
How do you like your coffee?
My daily coffee fix is cold brewed Starbucks with 2 scoops of protein powder and almond milk. If we are talking “coffee for fun,” I prefer strong lattes or cappuccinos. No sugar for me…just milk. We often drink coffee with Bailey’s on the weekends or when we have company over.
First coffee memory?
Drinking that awful, sugar-filled “vanilla cappucino” from Speedway.
What made you start drinking coffee?
In high school I drank it because it seemed like a cool, “grown up” thing to do. In college I started drinking it because I enjoyed it (and because I needed it).
The Buddha mug that my yoga student and friend, Crista, bought me for Christmas!
Time of day you most need a caffeine fix?
The morning, definitely!
If you could be anywhere in the world drinking a coffee?
Back in Luxembourg…although Italy has phenomenal coffee.
What does coffee mean to you?
Warm coffee means relaxation to me. As a teacher, I only had time to enjoy my coffee on my ride to work. Now as a mom of two little ones, I rarely have the luxury to finish my coffee before it turns cold. Being able to sit and enjoy an entire mug of coffee uninterrupted seems wonderfully indulgent.
Thank you, Erin, for sharing your home and your secret coffee recipe to being a mid mod yoga master. Namaste.
