At the end of a long day, the roads are quiet, the world turns out its lights and leaves you alone in the silence… thoughts fill the highway of your soul. After spending the morning with Jonelle, I would love to be a car on that highway, just to catch the tailwind of her strong spirit.

Jonelle invited me over for coffee and we sat down at her breakfast bar, so creativly repurposed from her Style 5:16 Consignment Boutique. I made myself at home, inhaling two servings of quiche and two cups of Caramel Cappuccinos. The caffeine was that good, or I was that hyped up by Jonelle’s new projects to realize how much I had drank. There was a pillow on her couch that read, “Today is the perfect day to start living your dreams”, and that is exactly how I felt walking to my car from the Massey’s stately black door.

How do you like your coffee?
Really hot with mocha or Carmel and good company.

First coffee memory?
My mom rushing out the door with her second cup of coffee in her hand late for work.

What made you start drinking coffee?
Working as a hospital research assistant. My boss insisted that I drank coffee in order to fit in at our morning meetings.

Favorite mug?
I have a favorite cup to look at. It says, “be the change.” But it is too big to actually drink from. I love to drink out of a simple white cup that I picked up from an estate sale.

Time of day you most need a caffeine fix?
Early in the morning.

If you could be anywhere in the world drinking a coffee?
A cafe somewhere in spain.

What does coffee mean to you?
Warmth and connection to others.
